2024 F1 IN SCHOOLS WORLD FINALS | SAUDI ARABIA
Team Lunar places 3rd at the 2024 Aramco F1 in Schools World Finals in Saudi Arabia!
After months of work, we arrived in Dharan, Saudi Arabia on Wednesday the 20th of November, ready to undertake an intense week of competition. The journey began with the submission of our project elements, followed by the nerve-wracking scrutineering of our all-important race cars.
A part of the welcoming ceremony consisted of a visit to the Ithra World Culture Centre, where we took a tour around the iconic pebble-shaped building, and met all the other World Finals competitors for the first time!
The official competition began on Saturday, with the building of our pit display that we managed to complete just in time, before the opening ceremony at the Dharan Expo Centre. Racing began and continued across the next two days alongside our individual judging sessions.
Due to our performance in the racing, we managed to progress through the knockout series onto the final race, which took place on Tuesday before the awards ceremony. This race came down to a thrilling, last-lap decider after we set the exact same time as Portuguese team Triton! We then congratulated all the category award winners before unexpectedly being called up to accept our 3rd place trophy. Standing on the podium, alongside German teams Array and Evo1ution is a moment we will never forget!
Throughout the event, meeting all the other teams and seeing the work of those from all around the world was the highlight!
Now with the event wrapped up, we are set to head to Qatar to enjoy the weekend at the 2024 Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix.
